Dolly Varden

Fly Shop and Guide Service

Hokkaido is a hidden gem for fly fishers in Japan. Abundant in wild scenery, it offers quality angling from early spring to early winter. The river types are also varied, from free-stone streams and wide main stems that meander in pastoral settings. Our target species are rainbow trout (nijimasu), white-spotted char (amemasu), land-locked cherry salmon (yamame), Japanese char (iwana), Japanese taimen (ito) and dolly varden (oshorokoma). There are plenty of places that are less known and that offer great fishing with little fishing pressure. In short, anglers’ dream destination.

Dolly Varden guided trips

I can guide in all areas in Hokkaido, and I pick up the best locations for the target species in the given season. I can cater to small-stream fishing to two-handed swing fishing in the lower reaches of the river fir the ultimate big fish. In my spare time I always scout out for the new.
